Live w/ MainStreet – Ep. 17 Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment for benefits is fast approaching. We asked our clients what questions they had about open enrollment and we’ve got a couple of tips too.

A few of the questions covered:

1. You gave me recommendations that I implemented during my open enrollment period last year.  Can I assume that I can use the same recommendations for the 2017 open enrollment period, or do I need to schedule another meeting with you to review my current situation?

2. I’m getting “offers” almost every day. I turn 65 in February. One came from the local HMO that provides my medical service through my employer (Westmont College). Is there any reason to look at any of these offers as long as I have full coverage through Westmont?

3. It would be interesting to hear a discussion about plan considerations and tradeoffs if you have Medicare Part B.   Not only pertaining to health care, but to drug benefits as well., i.e., some plans may be ok on the benefits side but you would take a big hit on the prescription drug benefit side.
