Team Member Spotlight – Rachel Clawson, CFP®
Rachel is a native Oregonian with a diverse background and a sincere passion to help others. She studied Viticulture and Enology at Oregon State University and continued her devotion to athletics working in fitness. After graduation, she lived in several states during her husband’s Air Force career during which she had the opportunity to explore different career interests. She worked with wineries, as a personal trainer, and in government contracting. In Tucson, AZ she fell upon an opportunity to explore the financial planning industry and since then, her biggest joy has been engaging, coaching, and helping clients live their best lives.
We’ve asked Rachel a few questions to get to know her a bit more!
MainStreet Team: When did you join the MS team?
Rachel: January 2021
MainStreet Team: What has been your favorite project at MSFP, or what are you looking forward to?
Rachel: I am most looking forward to building relationships with clients, helping them to live the life they dream about.
MainStreet Team: Do you have a favorite book or movie?
Rachel: My favorite books are Harry Potter and my favorite movies are a tie between Harry Potter and Star Wars (original Star Wars especially).
MainStreet Team: Favorite ice cream flavor?
Rachel: I like ice cream with all the chunks of stuff – cookie dough, brownie bites, fudge, peanut butter. Bring it on!
MainStreet Team: What type of music are you into?
Rachel: It depends on my mood; my workout music is much different than my road trip music. But if I had to pick one genre, it’d be Country. George Strait is my all-time favorite and my husband took us to see him in Las Vegas for our 3-year anniversary! I cried tears of joy.
MainStreet Team: Where were you born?
Rachel: Oregonian born-and-raised, I love the Pacific Northwest!
MainStreet Team: Tell us about your family.
Rachel: My husband, Jeff and I have been married for 7 years, together for 9. We have 3 fur-babies – Desi (Pittie mix), Sherlock and Nova (kitties).
MainStreet Team: Where’s the next place on your travel bucket list and why?
Rachel: There are so many on my list it’s tough to pick just one! But post-COVID I think next on our list is Northern Italy – Florence, Milan, Lake Como, Venice, Cinque Terre, etc. Jeff gets good chunks of time off with his firefighter schedule and we have a goal to travel to at least one country each year for as long as we can! It’s a priority on our Money Roadmap 😉.
MainStreet Team: Do you have any hobbies?
Rachel: I’ve always been athletic so training in our garage gym is almost a daily activity for me. I love exploring the outdoors any time of year – hiking, paddle boarding, snowshoeing, I need my fresh air! Of course, wine and cider tasting are on top of my list too, so we love visiting local vineyards and tap houses wherever we go.
MainStreet Team: Do You have any tattoos?
Rachel: I have two, both small and meaningful. Jeff and I each have our wedding date in roman numerals and my sister and I each have two small birds.
MainStreet Team: What’s something unique about you?
Rachel: At Oregon State, I majored in Viticulture & Enology (winemaking) and studied Italian language and history. I always thought I’d be working in a vineyard or in a cellar which I did for a while and loved! One day I may get back to that as my “passion career”. It did give me the opportunity to live in Italy for 4 months working with vineyards and starting my Sommelier training as part of my senior thesis. My Italian is pretty rusty now but I’m picking it back up in hopes of traveling back soon!
Here at MainStreet, we are excited to welcome Rachel to our family and look forward to the passion and knowledge she brings to the team!
